What Is This Webinar About?

Rather than considering cybersecurity measures in isolation, this webinar shows how operators of substations, power plants, and control centers can systematically base security decisions on specific risks. Using a substation as a practical example, we guide participants through the entire IEC 62443-3-2 cybersecurity risk assessment process: from identifying relevant threats and assessing their impact and likelihood to selecting appropriate technical and organisational security measures and discussing best practices in these areas.

The webinar demonstrates how identified risks inform concrete decisions regarding network segmentation, zoning, DMZ concepts, monitoring, operational processes, and risk acceptance. It provides a practical and methodologically sound introduction to modern cybersecurity management for OT infrastructure.

Agenda Points

✔️ Introduction to a substation as a comprehensive application example.
✔️ Introduction to the risk-based assessment approach according to IEC 62443-3-2.
✔️ Analysis of relevant cyber risks and their impact on operations, protection functions, and operational management.
✔️ Derivation of specific technical measures such as network segmentation, security zones, communication conduits, and monitoring.
✔️ Derivation of organizational measures relating to roles, processes, operational rules, and risk decisions.
✔️ Discussion of common challenges and best practices when implementing a security concept in substations.
